it's a bloggy one...
I’ve had so many people ask me about my iPhone setup for the Pancake video!
I thought I’d give you a quick introduction to the stuff I use to make videos with my iPhone, which will set you back around £70, and a couple of examples of where I’ve used them.
My iPhone Setup for Video
I first found I needed to do a professional-ish video back in July for a project I was working on with Protest. I had to video a 15 minute workout and I panicked a bit.
Up until that point any video I had done had been me chatting away to my laptop camera.
So I googled ways in which I could soup up my iPhone to make it a useable video device and came up with the following.
The tripod – Coolead £12.99
This is actually a neat little iPhone setup as it seems to fit any phone (I’ve got the iPhone 6 plus) and also comes with a selfie stick (which I’ve never used but you never know when you might need one!).
The microphone – Zoom IQ5 £49
This little baby plugs directly into the lightning connector of your iPhone or iPad. It has an app that you can use to check the levels (this is a useful video about how to use it) and it gets to work as soon as you press record on your video.
I first used it for this video (but had the setting slightly wrong!)
The lens – VicTsing 3-in-1 clip £10.09
This has been updated since I bought it to include a micro lens and is such a steal at £10! When you use video the angle of the shot shrinks, so the wide angle lens really helps with that. It’s also great for taking pictures of room layouts or when you need a wider angle.
That’s it! Really simple and cheap, especially since you could get away with not having the microphone if you’re not going to be doing any video/talking at a distance!
Have you done any videoing with your phone? What is your iPhone setup like?
I’d love to hear about it in the comments below or come and join the conversation over on the Mums’ Days Facebook Page.
