It’s been a busy week as the kids broke up last week for the Easter holidays – so a lot less working for me but a lot more fun with the kiddies! And if you thought 2 castles was impressive last week…this week we did 3! (Are you getting board of it yet?!)
Friday Reuben and I went on our usual castle hunt with Emily and Beau and then when we got home Mike arrived with Gabby who we haven’t seen for various reasons (Mothers’ Day followed by a Brownie camp) for 2 weeks. So it was lovely to all be back together!
On Saturday we went swimming then went to see Home at the cinema, which was fun. I totally cried when the girl got reunited with her mum (sorry, spoiler alert)!! Motherhood has made me well soft!
Reuben is the blur on the left – clearly ignoring my “stand by the alien and smile” instruction!
Sunday was a lovely quiet one with Mike’s Mum, Dad and Grandma coming for lunch, and Monday was my only work day as Reuben goes to Mike’s parents on a Monday. So I was able to get a wee bit of work done then. Actually, I think it was one of my most productive days ever!
Tuesday Reuben and I hung out as Gabby was at a Frozen dance workshop. So we went to soft play and then had a shopping experience followed by a haircut at a lovely boutique in Gosforth called Pikku. I got him a gorgeous jumper for spring and he had the time of his life driving the car while he had his hair cut!
My little mod!
The rest of the week has been a blur of DIY (done by the lovely Neil – not us!) and day trips to castles. Now that most of the English Heritage sites are open and we’re on our hols, it’s been a great excuse to meet up with friends and family, and it is genuinely such an easy and lovely way to spend a day. Packed lunch, waterproofs and we’re set. I never thought I’d say that.
Belsay castle on Wednesday
Prudhoe castle on Thursday
Meanwhile, Neil – also known as the baby whisperer, reuben is besotted with him – has been rocking a storm back home. The living room has been painted grey with an awesome navy blue feature wall. I love it! When the sofas arrive that room will be almost done!
Feature wall is Farrow and Ball’s Hague Blue
And for the Snug, Neil has built from scratch a sketch of a bookcase. It’s going to look mint and apparently the Snug sofas are arrive this week too – so it’s all go on the furniture front too!
With all the high drama (I know it’s not really!) of real life, I’ve got about 20 blogs I need/want to do and no time to write them! But this week I really enjoyed writing up our trips to both Newcastle’s Castle Keep and our date night to Ox Pasture Hall Hotel and I’ve got a few Vlogs ready to go live too…maybe tomorrow?!
Over to You
