Do your kids like creating their own monsters? Gabby loves it – she’s a huge fan of Monster High and Zelfs, so a week barely goes by when she doesn’t come home from school with a new creation in her book bag!
Gabriella often talks to me about what I do and she flips between wanting to be an actor or a blogger… well, she was thrilled a few weeks ago to get her very own blogging gig. And, she was paid in the only currency she cares about…toys. Inspired by Argos range of Monster High dolls (her favourite bit) and a collage toolbox (my favourite bit), all she had to do was create her own Monster. Piece of cake.
What a great gig! Perfect for a few days before Halloween and a fabulous project for our holiday in the Peak District as a ‘wet day’ activity.
Make your own Monster – Gabby’s way
It turned out there weren’t any wet days on holiday, but Gabby took her work very seriously and as soon as we arrived on holiday she sat down that evening with her notebook and pencil and planned her creation. I was so impressed with her work ethic!

The next morning, she dilligently got to work; no time for breakfast, getting dressed or brushing hair… And I didn’t want to interupted her flow – so, we’re keeping it real!
Prepping her work station
Getting started was so much fun. Gabby, my mum and I spent a good 15 minutes just going throught the Collage Toolbox and seeing what goodies were inside; googly eyes, pompoms, letters, crape paper, pipecleaners, glitter glue, shiny leaves, you name it!
Then Gabby urged us to leave her to it and she began her master-piece!

Her monster’s taking shape!
I give you “Death of Love” (minus that ‘a’)
I’m not going to lie Death of Love is not a nice monster! Gabby explains beautifully in her video exactly what each of its features do but to give you the gist, this nasty piece of works is basically the anti-cupid and makes people fall out of love!! I think Gabby’s creativity is fabulous and I love the fact that she came up with a baddy – they don’t get enough PR in my opinion!
Here’s her video explaining the features of her monster…
