We were recently invited to review the Oxelo B1 Scooter and as Reuben has never had a scooter I jumped at the chance.

Oxelo B1 Scooter Review

Oxelo B1 Scooter

Price – £22.99, plus £2 for the coloured deck.

The Oxelo B1 Scooter is a 3 wheel, light-weight scooter designed for 2 to 4 year olds. The deck (required additional purchase before you can use the scooter) comes in a range bright colours so you customise your scooter.

As soon as Reuben’s scooter arrived, he was thrilled with it, choosing the red deck. We quickly assembled it (it takes a couple of minutes to attached the deck and fit the handle bars) and then hit the streets to give it whirl.

The scooter is incredibly stable, thanks to its 3 wheel design and wide deck for little feet, and easy to steer. So Reuben was very quickly confident and off chasing after his sister…

…which he doesn’t like as he wants to be the leader!

Gabby also had a go, but at 9 years old, she was definitely too big for the Oxelo B1 scooter and found the steering was a bit too sensitive because she was too heavy for it (I had a go and found the same thing – boo!).

She had fun for our little outing though, bombing down the hills.

Since this outing the scooters have been everywhere with us as they are so easy to sling in the car, and it has made such a difference to general walking. Reuben is still somewhat reluctant when it comes to walking so it makes life a lot easier because I don’t have to carry him as much. Also, if he decides he wants to walk instead of scoot, it’s really lightweight so no problem for me to carry.

I guess my only reservations would be a) paying for the deck separately is a bit annoying – just call it £22 and pick a deck colour and b) the age range is quite narrow…I’m the kind of mum who buys clothes too big so that my kids can grow into them and you get plenty of use, so I would want this to last him a bit longer than just another year.

Having said that I think the price is a total bargain for the amount of use we’ve already got out of it, so it will probably be battered by next year and we’ll need a new one anyway!

All in all I’d give it a 4 our 5!
