6 months of Reuben – The newborn months

6 months of Reuben – The newborn months

Reuben is 6 months old today. I have had a baby for half a whole year. I can't work out if it feels like ages or if it's flown by. Probably a bit of both. He's completely consumed everything I do so I no longer have any concept of time! I know I've got very well acquainted with Beethoven's 9th Symphony Op 125 (thanks to baby einstein!)  but I'm sure we've done more...here's a review of what's been going on broken down into the Newborn Months - 0 to 3 months and the Baby Months - 3 to 6 months!

Reuben, my perfect little boy, arrived 3 days later after a rather long labour

I pondered my new body at 4 days and then 3 weeks and again at 12 weeks

I soon discovered Reuben wasn't a fan of sleeping unless he was on me, on my boob, so in a bid to not

Romance (and sex after pregnancy )

Mike and I had our first date on Saturday night! It was 9 weeks since our 'final date' when I was 40 weeks pregnant and it felt amazing to be out together especially after our week of being at each other's throats (which I talked about in Baby Blues - Mike has since been dubbed the man child because of his tantrum over not being allowed to go to the football!). We got Reuben settled at my mum and dad's house, got ready (that was a trauma in itself, what the freak do I wear? Maternity clothes don't really work and everything else is too small - not conducive to feeling romantic and attractive, let me tell you!) and then headed out for our 9 o'clock reservation (a full 1 hour past my bed time!).

It was weird to be out, all I do is think about Reuben (he needs a feed, please

Sex during pregnancy – step it up fellas

Courtesy of  SERGE BIELANKO, from babble.com/dadding

Now I haven't intentionally been thinking about it but sex during pregnancy has popped into my head a few times. For example, a book I downloaded about pregnancy didn't download properly apart from the bit about sex (so I read it), it's a topic of discussion amongst pregnant women, etc. so, I've naturally got to thinking about it in more detail - enough to want to write about it. Plus, it all counts as exercise, right?

A wee while ago I mentioned some of my pregnant friends had gone off it. And, then in another post I mentioned that pregnant woman can get a libido surge. It's a bit of a mystery as to which way you'll go - yuk or yes?

But never mind the lady in all this, apparently it can be just as much as a minefield for men. They too can go off it

21 weeks pregnant and the healing vitamin

Happy 21 weeks pregnant to me! And all those aches and pains people were talking about that I didn't think would happen to me? They've started to happen.

I've noticed in the last week or so that I'm hurting a bit more. For example, whatever I do in gym hurts more the next day now (and I've been doing more or less the same thing throughout my pregnancy), and the other night, while watching telly, I could not get comfortable for the life of me - I tried lying on the floor, sitting up, lying on one side, then the other. Especially sitting up with my legs crossed, a firm favourite of mine, is no longer comfy. And, unless we get a bigger sofa, there is no more snuggling on the sofa with Mike to be had (so he's commandeered the best watching telly spot for himself - Don't worry, I'll

19 weeks pregnant – pregnancy week by week

I've got loads to do tonight as I'm out at a French soiree tomorrow night at best friend, Alex's, complete with duck confit and stripes...firstly I've got to find something French to wear (sounds rediculous but Alex loves a good dress up - although she always goes as a French person if it's a fancy dress party so she's got the upper hand here), apparently penciling on a little moustache isn't going to cut it. And, secondly I need to make a curry for Saturday night as we're off for a big in-laws dinner at my parents'. I was also going to make cakes for mother's day but that thankfully went out of the window otherwise I wouldn't be going to sleep tonight.

I thought I'd get a head start with the blogging while Mike pops out to get the curry ingredients (amazingly he's going?!? I think it's a thank you

Let’s talk about sex, baby – unsexy pregnancy symptoms

I was checking out a new site today, new to me that is, called Parentsconnect. I warn you now, it's from Nickelodeon and the moment you hit the page, there's a loud advert you have to find and switch off. Anyway, since I'm into week 13 I thought I'd check to see what they've got to say about baby bean this week. I've been starting to think I can feel something in my stomach (it's often just wind!) so he must be growing a bit. Firstly, I was greeted by this is scary little number...

Aw, but it's got fingers and toes. It's even got a complete set of vocal cords and larynx to sing wee little tunes with! What I found most interesting (before I read further and found out it could now sing! In theory) is what they had to say about (look away now, mum) sex. This has been

Pregnancy Symptoms: How to lose a headache

At approximately 11am yesterday (after the bra buying incident) I developed a headache. I had heard this was one of many pregnancy symptoms that could hit at any time but so far I've been pretty lucky. I think I've only had about 1 headache since the beginning of December!

I must praise this particular headache for its staying power. Once it arrived I had a sit down, a big drink of water. No budge. I had my lunch and yet more water. Still hanging in there. Then had a long meeting in a hot room so that certainly didn't help. Following that I grabbed Mike and we went for a swim. By this time it had developed into head and neckache. As soon as I got back I took the last two paracetamols in the house, which did ease it but after a few hours it was back with avengance. So
