January 2012
My name is Hannah Parker, I’m 28 and I live in Blyth, Northumberland (originally from the midlands, if you’d told me 10 years ago – or 3 come to think of it – that I’d be living in a small, fairly rundown seaside town in the North of England, I wouldn’t believe you) with my husband, Mike, and step daughter, Gabriella, who is 5.
I have recently found out I’m pregnant and I have (about a week ago) decided with my friend and business partner, Alex, to close down our business. It is for exciting reasons but nevertheless I am also unemployed.
In true New Year fashion, my mission for the next few months is to sort my life out so that…
a) I am healthy and happy in time for Bday (mid-August);
b) I have made some money/got a job so we are not completely skint; and
c) I have streamlined my life – meaning everything from successful and painfree business closure to uncluttered cupboards and a Gok-style wardrobe.
I am hoping to blog once a day about everything and anything relating to the above – the focus is likely to be on pregnancy and babies growing, sore boobs, clothes, weird things that I’ve found out and feel it is my duty to share (I already have gem for you – did you know that some pregnant women grow an extra pair of boobs?! I kid you not, more to come on that one!) and the ultimate issue – how not to put on a million pounds and become the size of house (without any impact on kidney bean – that’s how big my baby is at the moment).
I hope you find it useful and/or interesting and please do share your thoughts and ideas with me too!

Fantastic blog Hannah… have shared it with others as I think they will enjoy it. Hope you are keeping well and looking forward to hearing how it all goes.
wow, Jill, thank you so much for your comment and sharing it with friends, I really appreciate it! Are you pregnant too? Thanks again, hannah xxx
Hi Hannah
I am really happy i found your blog! I am just approaching 24 weeks and it is great to find a friendly, like minded person out there! Loving that you are still doing Davina, you have inspired me to get back to it! I do alot of walking and i am still gently riding my bike into town but was thinking of more, so nice to feel encouraged to do so safely….so many people look surprised/shocked about doing anything other than sitting on your bum and eating for 2 haha! Hope this finds you well
Issy :))
Haha 🙂 I know exactly what you mean – I FEEL the raised eyebrows when I’m in the gym, particularly when I’m downstairs in the testosterone free weights bit! But what do they know about being pregnant? That’s great that you’re still walking loads, that’s not much fun for me now. Be careful on your bike though! My balance is non-existent now plus drivers can be dickheads around cyclists…
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and let me know how you get on with something a little more strenuous!
Hannah xx
Dear Hannah, I have been reading your blog since November on and off as I gave birth December 17th and as you may know it has been a bit crazy and I no longer have time to sit and read as i use to 🙁 . I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love your blog, my husband and I moved to South Korea from the North East 6 months ago, and reading your blog has been just great and makes me feel that I am not alone that we all go through a lot of things when we have a baby for the very first time.
At the moment our little Nathaniel is 12 weeks, and he is going through another of his Wonder Weeks stages which had me crying to my husband last night when he got home from work. I was soooo exhausted as Nate would scream every time i put him down, so that meant i carried him even in the BaBa Sling at home hahaha as he refused to sleep.
So I wanted to suggest that you write about Wonder Weeks, it is extremely intertesting and it has helped me understand Nate a lot better when he goes from happy baby to little Monster hahaha. http://www.whosthatmom.com/wonder-weeks-week-by-week/
Once again Hannah I love your Blog and little Reuben is gorgeous congratulations and you are simpy funny and amazing keep on blogging please.
Firstly, bloody hell, there’s a name for that time? I thought it was “will you please just give me a break” week! – I think Reuben is doing that exact same thing I the moment…I ended up carrying around the house in a Mobi wrap yesterday! And he’s being a nightmere to get to sleep, he won’t self settle and so we’re back to feeding, rocking, stroking his head, etc. He’s fine once he’s gone down though THANKFULLY. Touch wood, throw salt over shoulder, etc. I shall certainly look into it! I might be asking you for some words as the ‘experienced’ party (a skill neither of us would want or boast about!) 🙂
Secondly, thank you for your lovely comment – that’s made my day to know you enjoy my blog. Crazy gal.
Thirdly, South Korea? 6 months ago? When you were just about to have your first baby? You’re a braver person than me! Not because I think their health system isn’t as good as ours but more because who do you have around you to help? And bitch to? Etc. I bet you’ve actually got a great network out there. I lived in Singapore for a while and we made friends instantly.
Anyway, I digress, thank you for your comment, and I send you North Eastern love and I’ve very jealous of the amazing food you’ll be eating!
